    Aging Mead, questions

Curious how the “demon blood” turned out? I just harvested 3+ gallons of honey from my bees considering what to make next. I have an apple pie Cyser in the carboys now. A fruity idea appeals

It’s been a few years...trying my hand at mead this time

ibthink I have figured out my basic plan although I keep vacillating between making a rosehip mead or a apple cyser first. Either way I plan to make a 3 gallon batch of each however I only have 5 gallon fermenting buckets. I have 2 3 gallon carboys so once I rack them I have the appropriate...

    Aussie greenhorn

Mahalo polnkLab and AussieWino, I tried some jaboticaba wine 12 years ago that a friend made and went right out and planted 2 trees. She has since passed before I got the recipe but I now finally harvested 16 lbs of the fruit and thought I'd dive in to replicate it as it was the best fruit...

I have put word out to a couple of folks who have jaboticaba trees that I'm willing to pay to pick! It's season may be done tho for this year. Anything you might do differently next time. I messed up this first time around as I did not yet have a bag. So I began without one then 3 days...

I was hoping that the first time I read this that the reason I didn't quite understand the "positive approach" was due to the fever/flu. However I am recovered and still don't quite get the terminalogy. Implements I have primary with the cool siphon near the base. Auto siphon for the carboys...

Update. Air locks are still bubbling away, SG is currently 1.003 +.oo3 for temp. I'm seeing about 1/3" of sediment on bottoms of the carboys. Is it time to rack or should I wait until .995 or bubbling stops?

Funny you should say that....I was short one airlock for the small amount left over.....it wasn't even enough for another bottle of any size.... I still have it in a bottle that's way to big for it. I'm thinking I have to toss it, im just having difficulty with that.... Great advice ill take...

I'm soooo excited! As the 3 gal carboys still have not arrived I'm making do with 3. 1 gal glass bottles. I love that now I can see all the bubbling action going on and the air locks doing their thing. My son thought they look more like dragons blood than the dragons blood wine. I think it's...

Def helps Mauijoe! I like the idea of the very ripe banana as well. I've read about banana chips and wondered if I could use some of the dried apple bananas we grow, but if i can use it without drying it first that saves a step! And I'm all for that!
