    Contest Time!

Last year's fun wine making. Time to read up on bottling and get that done this winter. My Avatar is a fresco of Bacchus that was done in a cellar in France by my sister! Enjoy viewing, especially @TxBrew !

    Lower SW Michigan grapes soon

See the attached for our business card image, that shows all of the varietals and more contact info! We are new at this but last year we just had some of an early variety, Marquette. The brix was 26 when we harvested. Will have to think about the others for projection!

    Lower SW Michigan grapes soon

We hope to have a few grapes for home wine makers to have fun with this Sept from our 1.5 acres of young vines (1-5 years old). We have five red and two white varieties. Let us know if you might be interested in coming to Michigan to buy some!

Marquette in Zone 5a vs Foch or Oberlin Noir

We planted 50 Marquette's and this will be their 3rd year, so hopefully will get some good grapes here in Mich! Unfortunately 30% did not make it thru summer of 2012 even with manual watering, so will have some 1st years again.

    Oak chips

ECKraus site says for chips: ...The only preparation necessary is to boil the oak chips in water for about 10 minutes. Once your wine has cleared and is ready for aging, rack it into a clean container and add...

    Oak chips

I'm a newbie. I have toasted French Oak chips to put into my 2 month old carboy of Cab Sauv. (better late than never?) Should they be cleaned via boiling first, or soaked in water with Campden? I saw both of those options on googles :) Or is it ok to add them dry, just out of the bag? I just...

    Too little juice

How best to sanitize the marbles? I did the marble thing last week to fill up the carboy. Just boiled them in distilled water first (vs. well water) Hope the wine will be ok.
