dandelion wine, smells like farts (lol, no seriously)

I've had 3 or 4 batches of Skeeter Pee do the same thing. Bad smell. Splash rack it into a bucket, then back into the carboy. The smell will go away in a day or two.

    Backsweetening Question

That's what I wanted to hear. Thank you Phil.

    Backsweetening Question

Sorry to butt in, but I have a quick question. I added my meta and sorbate to a couple carboys about a month ago. I had planned on backsweetening that week. Well plans changed. I now plan on backsweetening them this weekend. Is it still good to go, or should I add more before backsweetening?

    About that time

Picking up my 15 gallons of Concord and 10 gallons of Catawba Sunday. I'm down to 3 bottles of last years Concord and it just keeps getting better.

    sparkling skeeter pee

I've had 2 batches start re-fermenting. At a certain point I put them in the fridge to stop the fermenting. They were both great. Didn't last long.

Skeeter pee with an "eggy" smell

I had two batches that did that. They both got too warm. I splash racked them both 3 or 4 times and the smell went away. It might have went away with time without splash racking. I don't know. Either way, you will probably be fine.

    Flavoring Me Pee

I've had 2 of 5 batches start re-fermenting. I was anxious with both of them and didn't wait enough for the sorbate\kmeta to do it's job. Both were Strawberry Lemon. I have the bottles in the fridge so they won't ferment any more. We call it sparkling pee. I've had many people tell me it's...

    ideas from peemasters

Make sure your yeast is dead! My strawberry lemonade skeeter pee was my favorite. Everyone loved it. It would of been about 3-4 weeks old now. Went down to the basement when I got home today. 4 corks popped off. It started re-fermenating. :m:po:(:(:(

    Bottle blow up

Gave my brother a few bottles of wine for their racing vacation. He left one of them in the truck. It was 94 outside. Probably got to 100+ in truck. The bar top cork blew off the bottle. He isn't much of a wine drinker so he wasn't sure if it was Skeeter Pee or my Catawba grape. Is it...

What is your temperature? I use 1118 yeast and I've never had a problem. I know, too late now. Try raising temperature. I forgot to mention on the post above, that I add the sugar the same time I add the concentrate. Once it taste good to you, add the sparkalloid. Wait a few weeks...

    Back sweatening and now Hazy

Yes I backsweeten and then clear. Works better and takes less time.

I'm on my 5th different flavor and they have all turned out excellent. Make the skeeter pee with 2 bottles of lemon juice instead of 3. Follow recipe. When the yeast is dead from Sorbate\K-meta..add 3 to 5 cans of your concentrate. Then add sparkalloid and give it 2 weeks to set and clear. I...

Home made aftertaste , ugh !!

That would be hard to answer. Everyone has a different taste. Maybe sulfites? I don't know.

    Generic Lemon Juice

I had a friend pick up some lemon juice for one of my batches and he got the generic. It worked just fine. As Lon said, same ingredients as the RealLemon

    Additional observational data

The tangy taste will be there until you add the sugar. Normal. With the smell, I've had 2 of my 4 batches smell really bad. I had to splash rack them 3 or 4 times and the smell eventually went away. Maybe If I didn't splash rack the smell would of still went away? But I don't know. I...
