    Electric destemmer stops mid crush

My start capaditor blew out on me several years ago with only about three lugs of grapes to go. I was able to get through the rest of the cruch by giving the pulley a little boost. I ordered three capacitors to have two for back-up.

Never had a mold problem. But, will head the warning.

WineXpert Bottling first kit ever, SO2 question

Here is my "2 cents": I use KMS when working with anything but stainless steel. For stainless I use an acid sanitizer (StarSan) because KMS will degrade the stainless and eventually cause pitting. My KMS mix is: 2 tsp KMS, 1 Tbs Citric Acid, 1 gallon clean water. 2 Tbs KMS is required if you...

    Michigan?

I'm up for it. Only days I cannot do it are Thursday, Friday & Saturday. I have a winery in Sterling Heights (Tennerra Winery) and those are my busy days.

    Bad Montracet and delivery issue

I love when a plan comes together

    Bad Montracet and delivery issue

I am curious about why you selected Montrachet as it is notorious for producing hydrogen-sulfide in a low-nutrient environment . Where abouts do you live? I could drop some yeast in the mail for you. Maybe it will get there quicker? What varietal are you fermenting? Cheers!

    RJS red trio kit

I agree with Heather. Also, I no longer use the clearing agents. Ever since I started filtering, my wines seem a lot cleaner and taste better. The whites (especially RJS Cru International Gewurtztraminer) seem a lot crisper. The kit manufacturers want you to have a good experience. The result...

    RJS red trio kit

I make the RJS Winemakers Trio Red all the time. It is a great kit ....especially after a year or so of aging. The only thing I do different is substitute the EC1118 with BM4x4 and do small regimen of nutrient additions for the BM4x4.

    RJ Spagnols Sauvignon Blanc

Try the RJS Cru International Ontario Sauvignon Blanc. Substitute the EC-1118 with QA23. The QA23 really enhances the citrus notes.

    making labels

Monty, I get label material from onlinelabels.com too, and use Microsoft Visio for the designing. The OL500 are 4"x3" (6 labels per sheet) The WG option is White Glossy for Inkjet (100 sheets for $50) The WI option is White Glossy Weatherproof (100 sheets for $100) WI is twice the price, but...

RJ Spagnols RJS EP Super Tuscan

DOAH! You all are all correct; that is way too much for a 23L kit. My standard batch for the winery is 4 kits (to fill a 100L tank). This is when I use 32 grams total (8 grams per 23L). Thank you for the correction.

RJ Spagnols RJS EP Super Tuscan

I have four Super Tuscan to ferment and plan on using BM4x4 on it. My first experience using BM4x4 was with RJS Winemakers Trio Red (Cab Sauv/Syrah/Zinfandel). It turned out really great. I use to do nutrient additions at the beginning and then 1/3 depletion. This has changed to performing...
