    General Question about Pri.

So I have read a bunch about open fermentation in your primary. Some do and some don't. I have been snapping the lid shut with my airlock on it. I have three 1 gal batches rolling. I have been far more consistent on stirring my blueberry, but I've also been breaking the yeast nutrient into 2...

    Pectic Haze?

Yes I nearly purchased some fancy smancy pH tester Saturday. Then I thought of pool type strips. Then the thought occurred whether the Roman's had such dilemmas. 😂

    Pectic Haze?

No I don't know what my pH is but I have strips coming today. I have got all the necessary accessories and additives quite yet for this winemaking thing. Slowly but surely.

    Pectic Haze?

When I get home tonight I was planning on adding my pectic enzyme. My super kleer will probably be delivered by then. Should I just pop in my KC and let her go or should I pectic enzyme it first?

    Pectic Haze?

Is there a way to determine if a cloudy wine is pectic haze? Is watermelon super susceptible to it? My recipe book acquired with my fruit wine kit shows no mention of pectic enzyme in the recipe, so being my first batch and sea of ignorance I didn't add any. Can you add it at any stage if it's...

Ready or not, self-driving semi-trucks are coming to America’s highways

I can't believe people ride bicycles in the street. Not a week goes by without someone driving their vehicle into a home. I don't feel comfortable sleeping on my couch. I think I'd be using the bike paths that the tax payers of ohio have so graciously supplied. Bring on massive multi wheeled...

Wow thanks a lot Dave. I'm about to start a batch of blueberry today. Sounds like I'll be starting it tomorrow so the chlorine will dissipate

Can I use city water for my juice and mixing my san star with? Can I put my city water in the air lock?

Lalvin K1-V1116 is what I have been using. As far as the smell I would classify it as dog farts. The last rack I dropped another crushed campden and gave it a good stir, then I siphoned. Can you add too much campden? I know 1 tablet per gallon. My question is frequency

I have read that watermelon can be temperamental. Making the slurry to see if yeast is good never occurred to me. Thanks Dave.

Brand new at this fine hobby

Hello all, I just registered this morning and thought I should get to it. I have been reading a ton of things on here. I appreciate the helpful nature of you fine folks. Very helpful. So I bought a fruit kit and have started two 1 gallon batches. My first was watermelon and my second was...
