NSeeking Advice: Winery With "Predatory" Customers

Thanks John! I appreciate the word of support on the concept! I was really nervous rolling the changes out tonight, but we actually made a lot more on sales simply by clamping down a bit... best part is that nobody got mad and people actually seem to have taken the hint and started buying things.

No joke! I was mortified that they'd behave that way!

NSeeking Advice: Winery With "Predatory" Customers

Thanks guys for the feedback! Yes, today I made it harder to get a free drink. Now signs around the building that say "No outside beverages permitted. Please order a refreshment at the bar". My bar manager will now tell anyone with an outside beverage (last night it was 2 liter of soda) that...

NSeeking Advice: Winery With "Predatory" Customers

Hi All! We're a little winery that just opened at the beginning of 2016 (I'll spare the details in case anybody looks us up & sees this) and, at first, we were getting a ton of great business. We were the hip new place in town with excellent decor, a great selection of wines, and a unique...

Starting a Small Fruit Winery in Northern CO

Good news all! As of the 18th, our Federal Basic Permit has been approved. Now we're just waiting on the Town of Windsor and the State of Colorado to approve renovations and give our CO Limited Winery Permit. Exciting stuff! Moving forward! Ryan

Starting a Small Fruit Winery in Northern CO

They said it couldn't be done... they said it was impossible, but my TTB application got accepted with just one small revision and is now under review in less than 2 weeks from submitting. I've seen horror stories of no status change in 65 days+ on this forum, so I'm very pleased with this outcome.

Starting a Small Fruit Winery in Northern CO

Good news all! Got an email from the TTB today and it turns out I only forgot one item! Filled it out, submitted, and awaiting assignment to a specialist. Fingers crossed! Also added a beautiful landscaping element this week out front of the winery-- some old wine barrels rigged up to be raised...

Thanks Paul! Calling multiple authorities today to "check in" (i.e. poke into moving forward) haha

    Hello From Colorado!

Oh no, we have a physical location for a legitimate commercial winery. No more home fermenting here! (Except when I go home and make batches for fun!)

    Hello From Colorado!

We're located out in Windsor, CO. Fort Collins is probably the closest, better known, city in the area.

    Hello From Colorado!

Thanks Mike! Glad to connect with some. Other than myself and people I've turned on to the hobby, haven't met many country wine makers! How refreshing :br

    Hello From Colorado!

Hi Julie! We're making wines with 100% local agricultural products including plum, apricot, strawberry, apple, and (drum rollll) we're planting a gooseberry "vineyard" out back. They have been referred to as the "hairy grape" and, frankly, they make delicious but exceptionally hard to find...

    Hello From Colorado!

Haha true that! Yes, nobody is making and SELLING good fruit wine, to clarify. Indeed, most of what we see is people flavoring grape wine with fruit syrup after fermentation is complete... not our favorite!

Starting a Small Fruit Winery in Northern CO

Hi All! Glad to be a part of this lovely forum and I figured I may as well share my journey with you all. It's been a long winter of preparation and (finally!) we found a location for our new little winery in Northern CO. To make a long story short, we're a fruit/cider/mead/flower & vegetable...

    Hello From Colorado!

Hi All! I'm from Northern Colorado and am currently looking to take my many-years-long hobby of country wine making to the next level. We noticed nobody in NoCo is currently making good fruit wine, despite the availability of some pretty stellar produce from local farmers. SO, we're stepping...
