    100 lbs of blackberries crushed

I have made several batches of blackberry wine in the past. I have always frozen my fruit the. Allowed it to thaw in a clean fermenter. Once thawed I run all the berries through a blender add to another fermenter and start. All the seeds will settle out as well as the pulp. Rack till clear.

    Planting First Grapes

Give them some time. Some plants are just a little slower than others. If you got them from a nursery did they come with a guarantee too? Even in my vineyard with older vins some leaf out as much as a week ahead of others.

please help, do I need to cement my end posts? general anchor/trellis post question.

In just going to say. My vineyard is 8yrs old. My wires for my middle posts are through the the post. A 3/8 wood bit works great and I have not had any post problems. I am in western WA in a very wet area. I used 6in pressure treated posts and have had no problems. Through the post wires are...

please help, do I need to cement my end posts? general anchor/trellis post question.

I agree with grapeman also. My rows are about 70 to 80 feet and I have anchor braces on the ends. I used 3ft metal posts and drove them all the way in then did the standard wire twist from the ground to about 3/4 up my end post. For my trellis wire I also used a ratcheting device on the ends so...

    Planting First Grapes

Crusher/destemers are really nice to have. I have about 180 vines and harvest about 1500 lbs. With yours you should really get the 400 to 800 lbs after a few years. You may also want to look into rentals in the area and sometimes even wine clubs will have one.

how many hours per week will by 120 vine plot eat up?

My home vineyard is about 250 vines. I'm usually in the vineyard one day a week especially after bud break. My vines are 7 years old now. I also have a drip system set up to water with so that helps a lot. Count on spending a fair amount of time out there especially the older they get.

    And so I begin

Planting more than one variety will not hurt at all. Just make sure you know where they are. I mark my posts with a number just to keep track and to help come harvest time when you have folks helping you. As for rooting I have always used a rooting hormone and put them in dirt in a plastic bag...

    And so I begin

I have to agree with grapeman. I have about a quarter acre in Gig Harbor WA. My vineyard is a handful for me. It is important to get a spray program in place as well as posts and wire. Oregon Vineyard Supply is a great resource for you to look into. Just remember to have fun and enjoy the wine.

Leon is good producer but kicks out a lighter wine. About PN color. Good taste with minor blackberry and cherry flavors.

Has anyone done a wine like this or is there a good recipe out there. My wife really wants me to get one going since my pear-blueberry dessert wine turned out so nice.
