    Well now...back in production.

Well. Just racked the Welch's to a carboy yesterday.....the SG had gotten down to 1.010 finally. Still watching the other two now.......the Cab/Sauv was close but will give it another day or two. Gonna have to keep an eye on the blackberry/merlot as well. I need to go take a SG reading...

I wanted to.....really I did. But I had two 80# dogs and a cat in the truck for a two day drive. :(

    Well now...back in production.

Waldo - I'll be trying to keep everyone posted on how it progresses. Wadewade - It's not from a kit. I was going to do another batch of blackberry wine from concentrate until I saw a can of Merlot concentrate also. So I got one can of each type and some oak chips and figured 'what the...

    Well now...back in production.

They said that their rules did not allow the transporting of alcohol interstate. They didn't want to run afoul of the ATF and federal laws. :( Oh well.....my inlaws got the windfall from that. The day before I left I went around putting a case or so on their doorsteps. I took one bottle of...

    Well now...back in production.

Well after a 'fun' move out here to lovely Tucson......a move in which the movers refused to transport my homebrew, I have once again gotten back into production. whew. I've started 3 batches in the last few days.....2 of them today. :) First was a Welch's red grape concentrate...

    Amounts

This is a new thing for me.....using oak and it not being in a kit. I'm trying a scratch recipe, kind of combining two, to make a Blackberry Merlot this time since my last blackberry wine was such a hit and my Cab/Merlot was a hit. Well, I went ahead and put approximately 2oz of the oak...

    Amounts

They're chips and I presume a medium toast based on the color. It is just labeled French toasted Oak on the bag.

    Amounts

I'm getting ready to start a 5 gal batch of Blackberry/Merlot and would like to oak it. I picked up 4 oz of French oak at the hbs..what amount should I use for a relatively medium oak flavor?

Hypothetical: How would you ship wine?

    Wine Competitions

I've been getting rave reviews of my blackberry wine and my cab/merlot so far and would like to enter it somewhere to see how it 'really' stacks up against others. I'm back in town now Smurfe so we'll have to meet somewhere to sample some ofeach others wine.

Where do you store your wines??

I do my storage of wine in my outside storage shed. :( I did buy an air conditioner to keep it near an appropriate temperature. My wife kicked my wine making enterprise out of the house.
