    WineXpert Lodi Ranch Cabernet

I'll Chime in. The Lodi Ranch 11 Cab is one of the first red kits I did back in 2011. It was the Estate series at the time. I thought it was good early(13 to 14 months old). The black currant, dark fruit of a warm climate Cab was there in spades. It had a slight sweet taste early on that it no...

    WineXpert Winexpert LE14

I haven't started mine yet, but I am really looking forward to this German Riesling. I am waiting until a carboy frees up, maybe in another month.

    RJ Spagnols Super Tuscan

We must have made our Super Tuscans at the same time, Tony. I have 7 bottles left at the 30 month mark. This wine is so good, I have the remaining bottles under lock and key. I am not letting anybody near them. I didn't realize a kit wine could be inconsistent from year to year. I have this...

    Other taking the next step

After I rack from the primary to my carboys, I have the exact amount of space left in the top of my carboys. I have found that all of my 6 gallon glass carboys are larger than 6 gallons, so you might want to keep that in mind.

    Other Dreaming LE kits

For me the very term "limited" means it should be better quality than anything available in the normal kit market. It should be 18 litres even with a grape pack. I don't so much look at what blends or varietals I can purchase commercially as what I can't find in a kit offered everyday. I like...

    Other Kits on deck?

Just like Brian55, I have 7 kits on deck. I also have 4 limited Editions on order. I need to start mass bottling soon since all my carboys and barrels are full.

    What's in your glass tonight?

Thanks Jim. I will keep the brandy in mind as I make the Black Forest Port. And Thig, I will try to make sure the 3/4 bottle of brandy goes into the port instead of me. lol

    WineXpert Kit Suggestions

There are some pretty nice wines at every price point. One of the first Winexperts that I made was the Lodi Cab in the Selection Estate Series now in the Eclipse line and the one that Tony is referring to. Very nice Black currant that is still holding well after 3 years. Also in the Eclipse line...

    WineXpert Winexpert LE2014

With 5 Super Tuscan kits made in the last two years, I keep telling myself I don't need another, but the Winexpert 2014 LE Super Tuscan keeps calling my name. There is something to an Italian wine I can't resist. :slp

    What's in your glass tonight?

Just a little bit belated, but happy birthday to your wife, Tony. Just love a good Amarone! Really like your Rubio too.

    What's in your glass tonight?

Wish I would have done the first Grand Red. Here's to hoping Grand Red II is as good. :h

Cellar Craft Cellar craft showcase vs cellar classic winery series

The Cellar Craft Amarone is hands down the best Amarone I have made to date. The Winery Series Super Tuscan is getting better and better as it ages. They both are as good as it gets.

    What's in your glass tonight?

I appreciate your sacrifice, Jim, in the name of science of course.:h I have a goal of making a different Amarone every year so I am interested in the En Primeur . After sampling my year and half old Cellar Craft Amarone, I might have to make the En Premeur and Showcase Amarone next year.

Other Kit wine that compares to commercials wine.

Both the Cellar Craft LR Red Mountain Trio and CC LR Bella Sonoma Pinot Noir are a among the best I have done. I would add the Winexpert Small lots 3 Continents Meritage and RJ Spagnols Limited Release Toro-Tempranillo-grenache also. The Limited editions are definitely worth doing. As far as...

    Thinking outside the box

Hi Geek, You are very well possibly right about the barrel. I have found that the barrel really smooths out a wine and I think it does take away the fruit forwardness in a young wine that some consider kit taste. The underlying wine is quite good with the slightest sour cherry on the finish. It...

    Thinking outside the box

Hi Lori, I am drinking a 6 month old SI Brunello as I am typing this. I think you are going to like this wine. It definitely is an early drinker. Out of all the Selection International with skins kits I have done so far this is my favorite. I did not tweak it at all except for running it...
