I see a lot of people using those Carboy carriers around the necks of the carboys. Be very carful with those. They are not to be used with full carboys only empties. If you carry a full one the neck can snap clean off.

    A Better Concord Wine

Maybe you misunderstand me a bit. The Black Raspberry concentrate is tasty and the wine its making I think is going to be really good. The Strawberry and Syrah(I haven't made yet) concentrates have some sort of weird chemical taste to them. Maybe its not the sulfites but they don't taste...

    A Better Concord Wine

I have 5 gallons of their black raspberry aging right now and have some jugs of the strawberry and Syrah in the fridge. The strawberry taste horrible as does the Syrah but I think its mostly the sulfites in it. Home winerys concentrates are super sulphited . When I Started the Black raspberry...

    A Better Concord Wine

I've made many batches of Concord grape wine over the years using both the welches frozen cans and the plastic jugs. While the wine has been good(Especially if you add some Tannin) I've thought how much better it could be if I had the real grapes. Well I have found what I think is the next...

Other US Winery Supply kits Anyone use these

Well they are just shooting themselves in the foot. I guess I screwed it up for everyone :( sorry bought that. You'd think they would at least get back to me about where to purchase their product. You'd think they would do everything they can to sell their kits but its a Californian based...

Actually their website is funny if you don't create an account and just do a guest checkout you don't need to put in a tax id. I was disappointed at first but then I clicked on the guest checkout and you can do it that way :)

    pounds verses juice

Most people don't use pure juice when making fruit wines. You know how many pounds of blackberries you would need to make 5 gallons of pure blackberry juice? I don't know but it would be a hell of a lot of blackberries and would be very expensive

Other US Winery Supply kits Anyone use these

http://uselitewine.com/index.php?cPath=1 In my quest for Pure Varietal 100% juice I stumbled upon these kits. They use no added sugar, water or blend the juice with generic white or red concentrate or source the juice from multiple source(All the juice comes from specific regions in...

How do I lubricate a Portuguese floor corker?

If you use just alittle and wipe it off it isnt going to hurt anything. I personally don't do that anymore but its not a big deal.

Can glass carboys even be sanitized?

Ive been using Starsan for years in my carboys and sanitizing everything and have yet to have an infection in my beer or wine. Starsan works plain and simple. If it didn't million of homebrewers and breweries wouldn't use it. Heck even bars and food establishments use it to sanitize glasses...

How do I lubricate a Portuguese floor corker?

You can get a food grade lubricant at places like Fleet farm. They use it on meat grinders and such for processing game. You can also try Searching on Amazon. Just make sure it says FOOD GRADE on it. You don't need much. I spray some into the iris and work it in and wherever their is moving...
