    I put a muslin bag around my auto syhon. I have one long enough to go from top to bottom. I dont get any chips in the transfer.

    Oak chip bag broke!!

    I never put my chips in a bag. I let them float and when the get water logged they sink to the bottom off the carboy. When I rack my wine I put a long cotton muslin bag over my auto siphon and I dont get any chips in the siphon.

    I just finished bottling the Costco Argentia Ridge chardoney and it turn out really nice. I picked another kit to store in my arsenal because they had them on foe 60 bucks again for the 60 bottle kit. That works out to a dollar a bottle. I would recommend the kit to other people.

    My sons wine was dry. I hope mine gets as dry. I wont know for a little while yet. Dont follow the directions to close. Follow the specific gravity. I will wait until the airlock stops before I rack it.

    Dont follow the directions to close. Follow the sg readings. My chardoney took longer then the directions recommended.

    I have the same companies chardoney sitting in the carboys clearing and it taste really good. Costco had the 60 bottle kit on sale for $60. I should be bottling in 2 weeks.

    After 48 hours that is when I saw the full fermentation. I dont use a primary bucket to ferment. I use a glass carboy to ferment both stages. I did add more oak to the kit.

    I am making the same kit and mine took 24 hours to get going. The problem I am having is now it is going so strong it is foaming out of the air lock. i used a heat belt to get the temp up on the carboy.
