I've had the same experience with my Merlot vines in No. Ga. They may have a deep center root,
but there were lots of roots at the surface. Couldn't roto till or hoe anywhere near the vine!

Spiced Apple Wine, aged with oak added, 2 years old. And Cranberry Wine, it's a little strong,
tart & high ABV so I'm bringing some Sprite to add to it for some! Roy

Jamie, I thought I knew too!! Never understood how varying amounts of sugar in the beginning
could vary sweetness in the end. So just make it the way YOU are comfortable with!! Roy

Ray, I make a Blackberry Port, well a Port style wine. I usually ferment it dry, say ABV of 13%
ish, then back sweeten with Blackberry Brandy to the desired sweetness, then add regular

NS, thanks for your post. We have Allison's book but never saw that answer. Our Peach Wine
(some bottles) has the same type of wispy cotton floaties. So I bet it's the unstable protein.
