    Welcome him,Brix and SG are basically the same thing, just different terminology, your
    Hydrometer probably has Brix listed on one side of the scale. You can buy digital PH meters
    online for under $20....

    I do have a question for those "in the know". 20-18 was gold, 18-16 was silver and 16-14 was
    bronze. So how is a wine with a score of 18 judged either gold or silver? How is that
