Maintaing your press?

Do you folks do anything special to maintain (and store) your press? I just keep mine in a dry location in the garage but we do have 4 distinct seasons where I live, which pretty cold and snowy winters... does that affect the press negatively? It very heavy and awkward to take inside.

I have not used my press for many years now because I no longer make wine from fresh grapes. When I did use it, I would wash it with a strong k-meta solution (3 tablespoons per gallon of water) and rinse it thoroughly with hot water. I would then let it dry completely, preferably in the sun, bring it into the cellar and cover it with a large plastic trash bag. Prior to the next use, I would again wash it down with a strong k-meta solution and rinse it with hot water. Getting it perfectly dry was not a priority when I was ready to use it.
