Hi all,

Im trying to find information about making my own red wine this year from merlot or red grape juice, where is the best product/place to buy from online in the UK? as I'm having troubles sourcing the juice online.

I have most of the equipment needed.

If someone could provide me with the steps to making red wine with bought grape juice that would be much appreciated, as I've been looking online and it seems theres a lot of different ways people are making it and different sterilising products used. Also I'm unsure of what measurements of yeast, sugar etc i would use with 1 litre of merlot/red grape juice? So I just wanted a bit of clarification.

Thanks,

James.

I was searching for kit alternatives and saw this. Might work for you.

The can concentrates are similar to a product we have in the states, it makes a thin wine unless you use more than 1 can or keep it to 3 gallons or so.

The second link is a kit very much like we have here. Kits are a great way to start for a beginner. Both come with instructions.

To determine sugar requirements, you need to have a hydrometer to check the specific gravity with. For a red you want to start 1.09 - 1.10.

You only need one packet of yeast per batch. For a beginner EC-1118 is a save and steady yeast.

For sanitizing, use kmeta, or a color safe oxygen cleaner, NEVER CHLORINE BLEACH!!!

Take you time, when in doubt let it set. The most mistakes in home wine making are made trying to get it in the bottle to soon.
