My primary has been going on for 2 days, and I don't have any foam and I don't have a cap either. (Red grape juice)

Although I do see it bubbling and the SG was 1.080 when I started and is at 1.017 now.

Is it normal to not have foam or a cap?

Fermentation is going. Depending on the yeast you may have more or less foam.

Agreed - i have used yeasts that foam up and others that don't. As long as your SG is lowering your must is fermenting.

If you're fermenting with fruit solids in the primary, you're more likely going to get a cap. With juice only, I seldom get anything, sometimes a bit of foam. Sounds like you're on track to a successful batch.
