I've been looking through the equipment section of this forum and the Wine magazines. I'm just trying to figure out this "wine making" process. I'm curious, with a grape destemmer and grape crusher..It crushed the grapes...where do the seeds go? I see from some articles that crushing the seeds impart a bitter taste. (noticed that on Ask Vinny). Guess there's no way around that unless one has a grape stomping party. Do the large commercial wineries have a different method on extracting seeds?
Thanks.

The crusher/destemmer gently breaks the grapes open ('crush' is really not the right term), then separates the grapes (with the seeds) from the stems. During fermentation, the seeds usually fall to the bottom as the grapes break down.
