I have one kit and realized that I should probably get a second, so that is on order. In the meantime, I'd like to scheme out a plan.
My wife and I love LBV Ports but we are not huge fans of Tawny or Ruby. What can I do to encourage a more LBV character from this kit?
I do have a Vadai ~5gallon barrel. That thing is great and now part of any red that I do. It's done about 10 kits and still seems to be imparting a lot of oak (I may have over-oaked an Eclipse Stags Leap Merlot with it, but that's another story). I am hoping to get a decent amount of barrel time for the port kits and could run a couple more (non-port) kits through the barrel to mellow it some more first.
