So I put together a yeast starter via a recipe I have in a book. First I added 3 tsp of pectin enzyme powder to the juice and let it sit for about 30 min. Then in a small bowl, I added 4oz of the juice, 3 tsp of Fermax Yeast Nutrient (by Crosby & Baker), 4 oz of lukewarm water, and the packet of yeast (in that order). When I added the yeast nutrient, I could see that the color of the juice turned greenish/grey at the bottom where the yeast starter had sunk to. Then when I added the water, the whole thing turned greenish/grey.

Is this normal?

Ive seen this before and it is ok, I think its just an imbalance due to the small quantity.
