Has anybody ever made red currant wine? How many pounds per gallon did you use. Did it turn out? I love black currant thinking of trying the red to see if it turns out. Thanks for the help.
 
I have made it a couple of times. Just checked my old recipe last nite and I used 22 lb. of currants in 5 gal. That is a bunch of picking. Was picking them last night, think I'm going to have to freeze them til next year for the next batch. Not going to have enough currants. The currant wine comes out pretty good. Has a unique taste that has to mellow out for a year or so. Smooths out after the aging time. Arne.
 
I used Red Star Cote de blanc I think. No tannins. Just used the fruit, pectic enzime, yeast nutrient,, yeast energizer and sugar.
