My last year fruiting canes are now cordons, so I am planning to do spur pruning this early spring. Here is a question: some of the spurs are thinner than a pencil, should I still keep them to a 2-bud cut? or should I just cut off them from the cordon? If I do that there will be some wide spacing where no spur left. See the picture below:

First year or so I prune for position - spacing and on top. The spur may not make it but there should be a basal bud that does.
