Hi All! new to this grape growing, I've got old vines that's been neglected for years and have a row of pine trees right next to them. Problems are grape bunches sparse and ripen at size of a pea. I want to cut down all the pines so the grapes will get full sun and I'm going to outline trellis with landscape timbers and fill with quality compost to fertilize and keep weeds down. Will this help or am I doing it all wrong. Your advice greatly appreciated. By the way I have purple grapes (Concorde) I think.

Sounds good to me. Grape vines need lots of sun and adequate water and fertilization.

Pines not only rob the vines of sunlight, but also water, nutrients and cause the soil to get too acidic. Part of the problem though is probably that they have been neglected for years. They may need a good pruning and a bit of fertility added.
