Default Anyone hear of or try this? Efferbarique SO2

Efferbarique

Effervescent granulated metabisulphite for sulfiting wine in barrels. When added to wine, it rapidly dissolves on the surface of the liquid, assuring that its antioxidant effect is maintained where it is needed. Subsequently, it assures homogenous and rapid distribution of the released SO2 without requiring any bâtonnage. Each packet of Efferbarrique liberates 2 grams of SO2. The pre-dosed packaging reduces the risk of incorrect addition.

Package: Box of 40 packets,
My Carlson Kmeta seems to fade fairly quickly so i thought this might be the answer
seems like a good idea but the shipping cost is almost as much as the item.

Default Feedback on product

got my package in the mail the other day. It comes in 2 gram laminated packs. they use a little bicarbonate to help it mix with your wine, so all you have to do is dump it in. I think it's a good deal because it shouldn't go bad sealed as it is. It did create about an inch of foam in the carboy when i added it, i doubt if there is enough carbonate to change the PH.

2 grams of sulfite is a lot of sulfite. As my barrels get more and more broken in and the wine spends longer amounts of time that would be perfect for keeping SO2 levels up. But, I only need maybe 1 gram Sulfite every 4 months or so. Wonder if you can break them in two easily?

Default Lodi wine supply.

It comes as a powder so you could divide easily.
