I hadn't thought about it till a few minutes ago, but my PDA would make a great computer to keep track of all my winemaking. Does anybody know of any software for Windows Mobile 5 for keeping track of everything?

Steve,
I keep my wine notes in Microsoft Excel and I know you can get Microsoft Office foryour PDA. Also Microsoft Access is apretty easydatabase program to use, but I don't have any experience with Access on a PDA.

Yikes,
I just read this with enthusiasm.
I am sort of working on some PDA projects (mainly medical), but let me see if I can tweak one for wine. Give me LOTS of time, though, as I am not a professional programmer.

Well, now you've got me thinking.
Do you want to track the whole wine (recipe included) or just the additions and course(s) of action?
The latter would be easier from logistics, but both could be done, similar to www.mywinerecipes.com. (Without tasting notes, etc) I.e. I could probabably do everything in drop-down lists, except for fruit/ingredients. However, it would start to get problematic for kit-wines.
I'm thinking:
Wine name, ID, start date, quantity, starting SG, ending SG, yeast strain, possible recipe entries. Then new lines to add new procedures, like "Racked. Stirred. Added XYZ, etc"
Hmmm.
What do you think?

Fermsoft's site says they are working on a Pocket PC software version. It appears to compliment the PC version so you can transfer to you regular PC from your Pocket PC

As BMW says, Excel works great and you should have it on yours. I have it on mine. It will work stand alone or will synch to my notebook to update the excel sheet there. It works fine for me so far. I do agree some type of Access program would be nice. Someday I will figure out how that works.

Well, I did it.
I have createdWineLogPocket. It is for ARM processors, but can be expanded to different processors. Let me know which one you have, and I can send you the trial version for it. The trial version allows you to use the program fully 10 times. Then, for a minimal cost of 15 dollars, you can purchase the fullversion.
I have tested the program on PocketPC 2002, and 2003 (Toshiba e310 and hp ipaq 2210) without problems. If you have a newer version of a PocketPC, I do not know if it works. Theoretically, it should, but I don't know for sure.
You can get this program at http://www.mywinerecipes.com. There's a link on the side of the page, and you are taken to general screenshots. The screenshots are updated now on the website, and you can get a general jist of what the program offers.
Future plans to this software is to create the shopping list - I'm hoping that I can get this done shortly, but sometimes life gets in the way. I also hope to get a "desktop" version of the software for printing. But this is all only future plans.
Enjoy!

Martina,
Good job.
I tried the program and it works pretty good and gives the information I like to track. Did you test it with a foldable keyboard or just with an emulator? I have a foldable keyboard and the tab order is out of sequence. You should be able to set the tab order easily and that would help. I will be buying the program to use.

Thanks appleman! I will check on the tab-order sequence shortly. No, I do not use a keyboard, but tried it out on the emulator, a Pocket PC 2002, and a Pocket PC 2003.
I will work on the tab-order for you. If you have purchased it, let me know, and I will send you the new file as soon as it's ready.
Thank you very much!
Edit: I see you've bought it. Thanks! I will have the tab order figured out by this evening, I hope.
