I just took my daily look at my carboy and noticed the liquid level has risen by over an 1". It is now just touching the base of my airlock... is that okey?

No, not really......your wine must have warmed up considerably. Just suck a little out with a syringe or a turkey baster. An inch under the bottom of the airlock stem is just right.
