I started some cranberry currant wine last weekend and racked out of the pail to glass last night. Ended up with 2 3/4 gallons.

It looks like V-8, I know, but I have high hopes for this batch.

Next morning, after sitting overnight, the sediment is building! (Too
early in the morning for Zoe, the dog over on the left - just been fed
and time for that nap.)

If this color holds as it clarifies I'll be a happy home vintner!

Starting SG was about 1.096 and I racked into glass at about 1.015.
Plan is to add house toast oak at next racking. At bottling I will pull
a little aside to blend with brandy for several bottles of something
special.

I'll try to post again as it progresses.

Excellent color and pictures Bill!

I see you have a couple of used corks in the hanging baskets...

Thanks Masta!

The corks go back years - there are two more baskets hanging above that
one. I even save them when we are on the road traveling and camping
and add them to the baskets upon returning. They're too full now and
keep dropping on the dogs below (Headline: Dog Gets Corked)

A wicked amount of money has been spent on commercial wine over the
years. I don't know why it didn't dawn on me long ago that I could save by
making my own! Duh...

Very nice looking, indeed.

BTW, you are not the only one to spend thousands of dollars on commercial wine before they figured out how cheap it is to make your own!

Thank you jobe, med and george.

You too Waldo. The recipe is from Jack Kellers site. Lets see if I can get it...

Recipe</a>

I have to report that no clearing has started yet - fermentation is still active.
Progress photos to come later.

It has been close to 2 weeks with the cranberry currant, out of
sight-out of mind under the sink. It is still fermenting, with no
clearing discernible yet, but a well defined layer of lees which I'm
really itching to leave behind asap! There's that impatience again.

Here's how it looks. Sorry, a bit overexposed...

This one is darker, and the sediment is clearer.

There are three bottles, due to be racked around Christmas I think, so maybe some pics then.
