I spent the whole day from 9:00 this morning till 9:45 ripping out my
old basement stair and installing my new all Oak stair today. When
removing the old 1 which was just a bunch of 2x6's nailed together and
painted(from the 50's) I discovered that I was in for some real work as
the existing header stuck out pretty far from being even with the 1st
floor landing and that needed to be even so that the new stair would
not be sticking out into my doorway for the winemaking room as the old
1 did and still meet code. I had to cut back the header and sister back
the other side with a Lam. beam and carriage bolts. I still have to
install the railing but that wont go up for awhile as those walls have
to be touched up, primed, and painted before the railing can be
installed to make life easier.
Great job Wade. Did you ever think about doing that for a living?...... You know he's a Pro folks- 45 minutes from start to finish- WOW! Began at 9:00 AM and finished at 9:45!!!! Now clean that camera lens and go work with your wine some. How about a new thread- or continue this one- Wade's Vacation- Time well spent. Each day you show us what you did that day. What's on tap for today?
